IV Therapy for Lyme Disease

Have you been recently diagnosed with or have chronic Lyme disease?  Do you feel that your doctors are not doing enough to help move you in a direction towards health?  Are you looking for alternative treatments to help you in your battle against Lyme disease?

Lyme disease is one of the most debilitating chronic diseases and can impact virtually every organ, gland and tissue of your body.  Many people with chronic Lyme disease aren’t able to live life like they’d like to and often end up on long-term disability. It is important to work with doctors who are “Lyme literate” and understand the workings of Lyme disease and the myriad of ways that it affects the body.

Lyme disease used to be endemic to the northeastern part of the US, but Lyme is spreading rapidly and cases are now reported all over the country and the world.  Lyme disease is a bacterial infection that is carried by ticks which have been infected and spread the infection when they bite you. Only about ½ of all people remember ever being bitten by a tick and even less report developing its characteristic “bulls-eye rash.”  Lyme disease can persist beyond its acute phase and if it is not treated right away chronic Lyme disease can then affect you for months, years or in many cases a lifetime! There are also a host of co-infections, like Babesiosis, Ehrlichiosis and Bartonellosis, that can be contracted simultaneously as Lyme disease, and cause horrible symptoms that look just like Lyme disease.

Lyme disease and its co-infections can cause exhaustion, crippling joint, muscle and nerve pain, brain fog, memory and concentration problems, severe headaches, cardiovascular problems, hormonal disruption and many other symptoms.

One of the treatments that we use at Conscious Human Medicine, to help people with Lyme disease is intravenous (IV) nutritional therapy.  IV nutritional therapy delivers nutrients directly into the bloodstream, bypassing the stomach and intestines.   You will receive a high concentration of nutrients in the fastest and most absorbable manner into your cells. Many of these nutrients traverse the blood-brain-barrier and are able to go directly into the brain where healing takes place.

Each case is unique and we individualize our IV treatments depending on a patient's needs.  As part of our nutritional IV regimen for Lyme disease and its co-infections, we use intravenous glutathione.  Glutathione is one of the best known agents to help reduce free radical build-up in brain, muscle and heart cells and has shown great promise in removing Lyme toxins from the body, helping to aid in Lyme “die-off”.

We also have great clinical experiences using intravenous high-dose vitamin C (IVC), one of the best known immune stimulants, helping the body’s immune system fight the Lyme infection, whether it be acute or chronic.  IVC can also aid in repairing tissues that are often damaged by Lyme “spirochetes.”

A number of other vitamins and minerals are extremely important and can be delivered via IV therapy.  These include vitamin B5, helping to restore normal function of the adrenal gland, an endocrine organ that is very often impacted by Lyme disease.  We use Vitamins B12 and B6 that are necessary for normal nerve and muscle function and magnesium, a mineral that is very helpful for relaxing muscles and reversing headaches of many different types.

Lyme disease is a complex process and no two people experience this condition or its co-infections the same way.  At Conscious Human Medicine we recognize that because your condition is multifactorial, the treatment needs to follow the same pattern.  Our first goal is to always understand the root cause(s) of your condition, run appropriate lab tests, understand what makes your condition better or worse and eliminate any obstacles to cure.  Alongside IV nutritional therapy, we use naturopathic foundations, lifestyle medicine, gut restoration, biofeedback, and hyperbaric oxygen therapy to enhance the healing process.
